Fredericktown’s golf team kept its strong start to the season rolling Tuesday with a win over Mount Gilead and Cardington Lincoln at Vernon View Golf Course.

The Freddies were led by junior standout Cooper Lowe, who carded a 38 on the back nine to earn medalist honors. Thatcher Motter followed with a 46, while Braxton Horlacher shot 51. Rounding out the lineup, Jolie Cooper finished with a 60, and both Hunter Robertson and Joey McGregor posted 70s.

The victory pushed Fredericktown to 6-1 in matches on the year, a mark that reflects both consistency and resilience. The program currently sits fourth in the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference standings after the early stretch of the season.

Head coach praised the team’s effort on a challenging but enjoyable afternoon. “It was a beautiful day to play golf, and the kids enjoyed it, even though there were some struggles,” the coach said. “We want to thank Mount Gilead and Cardington Lincoln for their sportsmanship and competitiveness. We also appreciate the partnership between Vernon View and Fredericktown Local Schools.”

The Freddies return to action Wednesday in the KMAC Tournament at Apple Valley.
