Fredericktown, unbeaten this season, clinched the KMAC championship title with a dominant 72–35 win over Mt. Gilead in a boys varsity conference game. The victory underscored the Freddies’ perfect run.
The matchup was played Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Fredericktown High School, sealing a historic finish for the program.
Fredericktown set the tone immediately with a stifling defensive effort, holding Mount Gilead scoreless in the first quarter while building a 23-0 lead. The Freddies continued to dominate in the second quarter, extending their advantage to 47-15 at halftime behind balanced scoring and relentless pressure. Fredericktown maintained control after the break, efficiently closing out the game while allowing the entire roster to contribute. The win secured a perfect 22-0 regular season and an undefeated run through conference play.
Fredericktown heads back into tournament play Saturday as the Freddies visit Pleasant for a 1 p.m. tip on Feb. 28. Fredericktown looks to set the tone early and shake off a long gap in the series.
The programs haven’t met since Jan. 14, 2014, when Pleasant defended its home floor with a 73–58 win. Now four‑time defending KMAC champions, Fredericktown enters this matchup determined to erase that memory and extend its postseason run.
